MCM informs - The original Skypephone caused quite a stir when it launched on 3 last year with its free Skype to Skype calls and tiny £50 PAYG price. Now 3 is back with a successor, the Skypephone S2. The newly printed spec list shows it has a 2.2in QVGA screen, 3.2MP camera, 50MB on-board memory expandable up to 4GB via microSD and will measure just 14mm thick.
The big draw, though, is that it will also get HSDPA and will come with modem drivers to use as a 3 mobile broadband dongle.
It’ll be on sale from 18th August for the slightly higher price of £69.99 - or ‘under £70′ as 3 puts it.
Who can forget Final Fantasy. Now this will be available for Xbox along with PS3. In Final Fantasy XIII, its battle system is “to maintain the strategic nature of command-based battles, while also including the excitement and speed found in real time battles.”
Nokia’s Vertu had no problem milking its older models endlessly with ultra-limited-run special editions — a shame, really, considering that they’ve had the 3G-capable Ascent Ti in the stable since last year. If you’re going to spend thousands (sometimes, tens or hundreds of thousands) of dollars on a ridiculously over-the-top handset, it may as well at least ride the UMTS wave, yeah? Finally, the wealthy have an opportunity to have their cake and eat it too thanks to the Nokia division’s new Checked and Knurled versions of the Ascent Ti, which as you might guess, are checked and knurled, respectively. It might be more than a gimmick, too, since they’re probably easier to keep a grip on than the standard model — so whip out those checkbooks, clumsy rich people.
One man of China made a giant mobile phone that looks like a Nokia 6670. It comes in slightly larger than the Apple iPhone. Weird Asia is reporting on a Beijing resident by the name of Mr. Tan who has built a working mobile phone measuring 36×17 inches and weighing in at nearly 50lbs.
The device even has multimedia functionality - it can browse the internet, capture video and take pictures. Mr. Han also says it has better reception than his standard issue Nokia. Unbelievably, however, it comes without an expandable memory slot or GPS functionality.
Rumor has it that Lamborghini-branded Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone from ASUS has been delayed. The ASUS ZX1 Lamborghini has been gussied up and shown off for the lux-handset demographic to drool over for the past several months, and we’ve been waiting on ASUS to finally launch the handset this summer. But, that may no longer be the case.
ASUS has put the kibosh on the ASUS ZX1 Lamborghini’s 2008 summer launch plans. ASUS apparently wanted to ensure that their more important product launches stayed on-schedule for a Q4 2008 launch window.
